Homework Mrs. Jane Levine
Due Nov. 6th. Please continue thinking about our in-class discussion on hate crimes and the recently passed hate crimes bill and write an essay expressing your point of view on whether or not a hate crime should be prosecuted any more severely than a regular crime. What arguments did we discuss in class to support each sides of the debate? Explain both fully, and then give your own opinion for why you feel as you do. Regardless of which position you hold, please separately consider the question of whether or not the reporting of hate crimes should be made mandatory by all states. What arguments did we give for each side of this issue? With which side do you agree?
